Republican Congressman Has to Defend That He's Not A "Fascist." Good. [1]

I’m one of those people who believe that the Republicans are in for a world of hurt with the upcoming midterm elections. And yes, there will be elections. Nebraska seems to be a harbinger of things to come.
Last night, another GOP Congressman, Mike Flood of Nebraska, faced an angry town hall:
Republican Rep. Mike Flood appeared before his constituents today in Nebraska for a town hall that turned ugly as he tried to defend President Donald Trump’s “big, beautiful bill,” the reconciliation package the House of Representatives passed last week, and which is expected to force millions of Americans off their health care coverage and food aid. Unfortunately, Flood hadn’t actually read the bill. Flood could barely get through a sentence without facing boos and heckling from the audience. At one point, when asked about a provision in the GOP’s massive reconciliation package that would restrict the judiciary’s ability to hold government officials in contempt, Flood said he did not agree with the provision, before admitting that the “provision was unknown to me when I voted for that.” The confession prompted a loud round of jeering from attendees. Flood eventually interjected, telling the crowd that he was “not going to hide the truth.”
Even better:
At one point, an enraged constituent accused Flood of being a “fascist,” to which Flood replied: “I get that you can get an applause line when you call me a fascist, but I’m not.” “I am not a fascist, I’m an American, and I would never call you something like that,” he went on.
Gotta love it when your own constituents call you a fascist to your face. And yes, Mike, you are a fascist. One could barely argue you’re an American with your warped ideas of patriotism and how the US government works.
When you vote to restrict the judiciary’s ability to hold (Republican) government officials in contempt, then yes, I think you’ve waded deep in fascism.
This is how you fight back. Courage not fear.
