Morning Open Thread: The Tonys Are (Still) Coming! [1]
['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.']

The Tony Awards will air Sunday, June 8, from 6-9 p.m. Mountain time on CBS and streaming on Paramount+.
The Tony Awards expanded the Leading Actor in a Musical category to six this year. The performances might be terrific, but only four of these shows have any appeal for me. Your mileage might vary.
James Monroe Iglehart, A Wonderful World: The Louis Armstrong Musical
The quibbles I’ve heard were about the book, not Inglehart’s performance as Armstrong. It’s a jukebox musical — aren’t we sick of them yet? But it’s Satchmo — you know the music’s great.

Jeremy Jordan, Floyd Collins
I’ve seen several reviews of this show. Can’t remember what it’s about to save my life. I guess he gets himself stuck in a cave or a mine or something.
🏆 🏆 🏆
Darrell Criss, Maybe Happy Ending
My money’s on Criss to win. Everybody seems charmed by this story of two robots...falling in love? Going on a road trip? Anyway, the critics were enthralled, and it looks like a winner — it has ten nominations, including Best Direction of a Musical and Best Musical.
“The Rainy Day We Met”
🏆 🏆 🏆
Tom Francis, Sunset Boulevard
Or Francis. Could be Francis. He’s terrific. His performance at the Olivier Awards was just smashing. And he won, too.
🏆 🏆 🏆
Jonathan Groff, Just in Time
Hey, he’s from my hometown! He’s been nominated before — he won last year, and might again. He’s playing Bobby Darrin in this jukebox musical. Splish-Splash!
🏆 🏆 🏆
Andrew Durand, Dead Outlaw
Apparently he stands as if dead for the whole second act. That’s gotta be worth something — it’s harder than it sounds — but does not inspire me to want to see the show. This song is obviously from Act One.
🏆 🏆 🏆
Have a great day!
