Some interesting news came over the wire today that will thrill Catholics living in Chicago (and quite possibly all over this country).

The newly appointed leader of the Catholic Church, Pope Leo XIV, will be holding a televised mass at his beloved Comisky Park at 2:30 PM on June the 14th. That is 9:30 PM Vatican City time. It will last until 11PM, his time. So, he’s staying up a bit late for this mass. Don’t worry, I am sure he will be allowed to sleep late on Monday.

More information here.

Do I really need to remind anyone here what also is happening on that day?

Gee, do you think that any networks will broadcast this? Considering that this is the first American Pope and that this will be part of a special event celebrating this, I would hope that we would get some breaking coverage of him preaching to his flock. Especially, since…

Pope Leo will offer a “special video message to the young people of the world,” at the event, which is scheduled for June 14 at 333 W. 35th St., the home of the White Sox, the Archdiocese of Chicago announced.

Hmm...I wonder what that might be?

We might want to get some e-mails, postcards and letters out to make sure this gets seen. I would love a split screen. Thousands of screaming fans, chanting his name…

“Papa Leo!”

“Holy Father”

“His Holiness”

Meanwhile, we should take bets on the other side of the screen, like how many cracks will be left by the tanks in that certain someone’s birthday party.

By the way, if you are wondering why Comiskey Field and not the historical site known as Wrigley, it is because, like President Obama, Pope Leo XIV is a life-long White Sox fan. Unfortunately, right now the Sox need all the help they can get.

Just so you know...
