Russia has a breakthrough in the Pokrovsk area.

x Russian forces have broken through Ukrainian defenses near the Pokrovsk–Kostiantynivka highway. There’s still time to send reinforcements, but Ukraine’s only available reserves are in the Sumy region, where Russia is also advancing.

Better start running.

Drones have been proliferating faster than spam emails. The swarms will only get larger.

x Before this war is over, we will see Ukraine attacking Russia with 1,000 drones on a near-daily basis.

Last night Ukraine launched over 500 drones. Tonight might be a similar story.

Lots of military-industrial targets are getting hit in Russia even if most drones get shot down. — Igor Sushko (@igorsushko.bsky.social) May 22, 2025 at 9:55 PM

Russian channels report that due to drone threats the airports all the way to Ivanovo, Nizhny Novgorod, Yaroslav and even Kostroma had to be closed. Overall, air travel in at least 15 Russian regions, including Moscow, was disrupted by increased drone activity.

Russia used this new drone to attack Odesa.

x Russia launched a new, little-known strike drone in a morning attack on Odesa, says military expert Kovalenko. The drone, larger and more powerful than the "Lancet," flew deep into Odesa at 200m altitude and was previously undetected by Ukrainian air defenses.

A new Russian strategy being deployed.

x ‼️Russia is deploying a military strategy known as “triple chokehold” to grind down AFU troops, - The Telegraph Putin’s forces are launching ground assaults to pin troops down, then dropping mines from drones and calling in strikes to restrict movement before glide bombs target defensive positions.

A Hawk gets its prey.

They should have turned around and gone back.

WARNING: Video shows Russians getting drone-bombed. Also, the audio is annoying.

x Although barbed wire is not capable of stopping the advance of Russian infantry on its own, it does give time to react including to drone operators.

Another 1,050 Russians who should have stayed home.

The South Korean model is the best of these options, but I don’t see a ceasefire by the end of July.

x ❗️🇺🇦 Ceasefire in Ukraine By The End Of July This Year, Georgia's Most Likely Scenario for the Country's Future, — JPMorganChase There are four most likely scenarios for the future of Ukraine:

[image or embed] — MAKS 25 👀🇺🇦 (@maks23.bsky.social) May 23, 2025 at 10:21 AM

▪️South Korean. Ukraine will not receive NATO membership or full restoration of territorial integrity, but European troops will be present on its territory. This will allow it to embark on a significantly more stable, rich and democratic path of development; ▪️Israeli. Ukraine will have strong and long-term military and economic support, but without a significant presence of foreign troops. Ukraine will be able to create its own deterrence mechanism, but the war will always be nearby; ▪️Georgian. Ukraine will not receive foreign troops or strong military support. External support will fade, the integration process with the West will stop and the country will return to the orbit of Russia's influence; ▪️Belarusian. The US will abandon its support for Ukraine, and Europe will not be able to fill this gap. Russia will strive for the complete capitulation of Ukraine and will effectively win the war, divide the West and irrevocably undermine the world order.

Zaluzhnyi is correct in this assessment. Short of some kind of cataclysmic event in Russia like a coup that deposes Putin or an economic collapse, Ukraine will not expel Russia from all of the occupied territory any time soon.

x ⚡️Ukraine can only wage a 'high-tech war of survival' against Russia, Zaluzhnyi says. Ukraine cannot expect to return Russian-occupied territories as long as Moscow has the resources to continue its war, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, former commander-in-chief and current ambassador to the U.K., said on May 22.

[image or embed] — The Kyiv Independent (@kyivindependent.com) May 23, 2025 at 3:13 AM

"I hope there is no one left in this hall still waiting for a miracle — for some white swan to bring peace to Ukraine, restore the borders of 1991 or 2022, and after that there will be great happiness in Ukraine," said Zaluzhnyi.

Sadly, this is true.

x 🇨🇿 Czech President Petr Pavel recalled that only Ukraine and Russia today know how to use modern means of warfare. 🗣️ "If you ask me whether NATO is ready to conduct serious military operations, my answer will be: "With many limitations".

Dear Lindsey,

The next time you are on your knees groveling down at Mar-A-Lago, try explaining this to Trump.

x 🇺🇸🇺🇦🇷🇺"Russia is the problem, not Ukraine. Ukraine didn’t invade Russia; Russia invaded Ukraine. We need moral clarity on all these issues," - US Senator Lindsey Graham Kyiv Post’s Washington correspondent reports.

Is Rubio going rogue?

x 🇺🇸 Rubio pushes daily for new Russia sanctions, hoping Congress passes the Graham bill with a veto-proof Senate majority to block any reset with Moscow, a source close to him told New Lines. Trump resists, despite privately admitting to EU leaders that Putin thinks he's winning the war.

The hammer should be dropped on this company.

x Here’s what we are reading today: A German tech company may have exported technology to Russia via Slovenia, Politico writes. This happened despite EU sanctions meant to block exports of advanced and dual-use tech to Russia.

Damn shame.

x Sergey Serebryakov, director of Kirov Tractor Plant, shared that the sale of construction equipment for a number of Russiaj industries - coal, oil, and construction - has dropped by 70%, and the industries themselves have been hit hard.
