Good morning, Newdists!
Heard the new duet between Steve Perry of Journey and Willie Nelson.
That kicked off today’s offering.
Grab a cuppa, won’t you?
I have to wonder how the duet would’ve sounded, had they done it twenty years ago? I love both their voices, so I think I can appreciate what they’re doing now, while still….wondering. That’s one of the great things about music!
All are welcome to join the fun, the silliness, the conversations. If you don’t know...just ask! Some things really do require a bit of explanation. We do not post photos of snakes, creepy crawlies, or any photo depicting harm to humans or animals. We, as a group, have declared a moratorium on photos of Trump. We’ve seen enough, heard enough. This is a Trump-Free Zone! There will be a few surprises along the way, all good ones, we hope. We are here to keep building the Daily Kos Community. We post Mon-Sun at 10:30 a.m. Eastern. Pie fights will be met with outrageous ridicule and insults. Trolls will be incinerated and served at the next group BBQ. As briquettes.
Here is the Willie Nelson, Steve Perry duet 2025:
The original, from Journey (1983):
/
Found some ear worms from the 80s….songs we still love, however silly:
One of the earliest mtv videos I remember….
This one….loved the guy for so long. His politics are abhorrent, but he still cracks me up when I see him doing what he does so well.
Yippee kye aye……
Willis was cast as David Addison Jr. in the television series Moonlighting (1985–1989), competing against 3,000 other actors for the position. In the late 1980s, Willis enjoyed moderate success as a recording artist , recording an album of pop-blues, The Return of Bruno , which included the hit single " Respect Yourself " featuring the Pointer Sisters .
From 1983...Dexy’s Midnight Runners...C’mon, Eileen:
1982…..C’mon, we all knew this one. We wondered, but we knew it! Flock of what, now?
A Flock of Seagulls are an English new wave band formed in Liverpool in 1979."I Ran (So Far Away)" — which became the band's biggest hit and was in h eavy rotation on the new cable channel, MTV . The video for " I Ran " was low budget (even for the time), but it provided enormous exposure for the band, and it is well-remembered in part because MTV played it frequently.
Boy, did it!!!!
"Our House" By Madness I still sing this to the cat(s):
Madness are an English ska and pop band from Camden Town , north west London, who formed in 1976. The summer of 2012 saw two notable performances. In June, the band performed at the Queen's Diamond Jubilee concert at Buckingham Palace . The band performed "Our House" and "It Must Be Love" from the roof of the palace with accompanying animations projected onto the palace front. In August, the band was the first to perform at the closing ceremony of the London Olympic Games .
I saw the closing ceremonies that year, and was absolutely delighted by the performance. As was everyone else in the audience, it seemed.
And finally…..
One of 1983's biggest hits came from songwriter and singer Eddy Wright. The song is a reference to the actual Electric Avenue in London, England which was one of the first streets to be lit by electricity. The area now has a high population of Caribbean immigrants which is why the song features a reggae-synth vibe.
Got whimsy?
Got music?
Got somethin’ on your mind?
