Gerry Connolly, my Congressman, Has Passed Away [1]

Congressman Connolly was a force to be reckoned with from the time I moved to Northern Virginia. He was a legendary fighter, but he also made a point of building community both in the Democratic party and across the region here in NoVA. He did a tremendous amount of good for his constituents in every office he held. He also mentored many young Democratic leaders along the way. I am sure we will have good leadership for years to come because of that. I feel fortunate thave had him as my representative for so many years in Congress, and I will miss him.
NoVA folks, please share your memories below in the comments.
Also, I am aware that there are some folks on DailyKos who are not happy with Congressman Connolly for taking a leadership role you wanted someone else to have. You are certainly welcome to your opinion but this diary is here to remember the life and work of a friend and neighbor who gave his all to serve his community. If you would like to trash talk Congressman Connolly, please do so in your own diary.
