One crazy elder abuse charge and right-wing responses to Joe's diagnosis [1]

It was bad enough for Trump to first say something nice about Joe Biden with his prostate cancer diagnosis, then immediately turn it into election interference by not letting the public know about Joe's problems.

Today, you've got a book co-authored by Jake Tapper available, that kicks Biden down even more for having tried to run for re-election.

Right-wing news are foaming at the mouth over being able to gloat over Biden's diagnosis. The instant cruelty is amazing.

To add to the mix, Leo Terrell, a senior counselor to the Assistant Attorney General for the DOJ Civil Rights Division, suggests charging Jill Biden for elder abuse, for not revealing what she knew about Joe's condition. Criminal charges for the former First Lady. Outrageous, but that is what the DOJ is these days.

Terrell has made his X account private so seeing his posts is impossible. I can only copy what The New York Post was able to find. But that's where this story started. I could only get a quick screenshot before it disappeared.

He was a Fox News contributor before Trump named Terrell to the DOJ in January.

Here are two posts Terrell shared.

Terrell wrote: "Elder abuse! Criminal charges??"

That's all the Post had from Terrell.

There are dozens of medical experts popping up to put in their two cents worth.

Don Jr. had to say "What I want to know is how did Dr. Jill Biden miss stage 5 metastasic cancer or is this another cover-up???"

After that one nice post Trump did saying that he and Melania wished Joe the best, it didn't take long for him to jump into the fray again about how long this had been going on. "Somebody is not telling the facts."

Joe let everybody know he and Jill have their spirits up.

It wasn't all bad on the far right. Marjorie Taylor Greene actually wished Joe well, and said that her own father had died from cancer in 2021.

Karoline Leavitt reposted Trump's original Truth Social post without comment. Even Matt Gaetz was supportive.

When it came to Laura Loomer, it was another story:

She should have her social media taken away for being a petulant child. Someone needs to tell her how many thousands and maybe millions will die from the withdrawal of USAID and countless other programs that helped the poor around the world.

Opposition with good thoughts included Marco Rubio, Mike Johnson, and Pam Bondi.

JD Vance was a different story. He wound up at the end saying Joe couldn't do the job. He didn't a have a nice thing to say and wallowed in conspiracy theories.

Former Republican Rep. Barbara Comstock said on X, "Such a graceless, soulless ghoul @jdvance. Visits with Popes seem to have no impact. In case he hadn't noticed, his job approval is the lowest of VPs at this point in modern history and well earned."

The full statement Trump made to reporters on Monday was, "It's a very, very bad situation and I feel very badly about it and I think people should try to find out what happened... I don't know if it had anything to do with the hospital. Walter Reed is really good, they're some of the best doctors I've ever seen. I don't know if they were involved but a doctor was involved in each case, maybe it was the same doctor, and somebody is not telling the facts."

So, unfortunately, Trump had to add to the conspiracy theories in the end. I don't know what led Leo Terrell to think calling for Jill Biden to be charged for elder abuse was a good idea. There's a mix of good and bad responses, but mostly civil at the right time. We'll see how much the right wants to snowball this. It distracts from Trump at a crucial time with the budget bill, so they may play it for all it's worth.

What matters is they found Joe's problem and it is treatable with hormones. Good luck, Joe.
