Insomniacs' Late Night Vent Hole - Surprise Birthday Party Edition [1]

This vent-hole (hereinafter known as IVH), if lost or stolen will not be replaced or purchase price refunded. Violation of IVH rules will result in expulsion without refund. A copy of IVH rules can be obtained from one or more members wearing tie-dyed oxford shirts after written requests. Admission to certain functions within the IVH may require additional innuendo, enter at your own risk. Frivolity and silliness are highly recommended for all riders. Sunday was my birthday, I was planning to give myself a surprise birthday party. Let me explain, I wasn’t the one to be surprised, my sort-of-adopted family got the surprise.

You see, after my heart attack, DHHS forbid me to return home to recover, mind you, I know my home isn’t livable, but where else would I go? After my stint in the hospital, my daughter made arrangements with some friends of hers, to have me live in their place while I recovered. Those people turned their house inside out to make room for me and their lives upside down to help me. The family was Grandma, Mom and two young girls 7 and 9 years of age. They put baby monitor cameras in three rooms so my daughter could check on me from work. That family let me live there for 4 months and another two months with visits from me. Now I have returned home, just not to the house, I have a truck with a camper in a garage to stay in so I can care for my animals, DHHS may not approve, but I don’t live to please them.

So, the surprise was not for me, but for them. All I wanted for my birthday was to spend time with the family and thank them for being there when I needed someone the most. We made some burgers, I wanted to grill and have a picnic outdoors, but it was raining and chilly, so we cooked in the house, had a good meal, shared some cake and ice cream and I got my hugs that I have been missing. Yes, it was a good birthday party and it was a good day all around for me. I got my birthday hugs and they got a surprise dinner with a cake. Who says you can’t plan your own surprise birthday party, as long as someone gets surprised, that’s what make it a surprise party, right?
