Building a Community -- or is that a Donor Base? Donors in every State for Hope Springs from Field [1]

[Warning: This is a stats post, and may bore the bejesus out of some people]
Today is the 20th. The 20th of every month (except for January, when it is the 30th — iirc), i have to file an FEC report for Hope Springs from Field PAC [dated website], and since Hope Springs is a grassroots political committee, i do it by hand. Which means i see every donor every month. It is fascinating to me, in large part because i have worked — and canvassed — in almost every single state in my career.
So i keep meaning to do this post almost every month since i realized that we have donors from every single state. That blew me away (it’s been several years since this happened, and it still blows my mind). 8,796 people have made contributions to Hope Springs now. The average contribution is $43.06. 59 Americans stationed abroad have contributed, with an average of $15.25, several of which were connected to the military. These are probably the people that president felon is “concerned about” in his jihad against ActBlue.
19 donors are from Alaska, with an average contribution of $55.57. Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau and Haines??? Yep, Haines. We’ve had 4 contributors from Alabama for an average of $155 per contribution. Florence, Montgomery, Tuscaloosa and Dauphin Island. The latter is another place i’d never heard of before. 10 people who live in Arkansas have contributed, with an average contribution of $54.50. Conway, Farmington, Fayetteville, Fort Smith, Hot Springs Village, Little Rock (of course) and West Fork. My knowledge of geography keeps expanding!
Now we get to a state where we have Hope Springs volunteers canvassing. It’s no surprise we have donors there, and we have 162 people from Arizona who have contributed an average of $26.17. Bisbee, Bullhead City, Casa Grande, Cottonwood, Eagar, Edmonton, Flagstaff, Gilbert, Gold Canyon, Mesa, Oro Valley, Payson, Peoria, Phoenix, Pinetop, Prescott, Queen Creek, Scottsdale, Sedona, Sierra Vista, Strawberry, Sun Lakes, Surprise, Tucson, Vernon and Yuma.
1,865 donors from California have contributed an average of $46.18. It’s a long list of cities where donors come from. And every one of them is appreciated!
303 donors live in Colorado. The average contribution from Colorado donors is $35.94.
Our very first contributor, and a monthly donor for the next two years, came from Connecticut as $100 donor. After i was recruited to do this — and made a substantial loan to Hope Springs so that we could bring in organizers from the surrounding states immediately into Georgia for the special Senate runoff — this contributor really gave me confidence that this was something we should do! 92 other donors joined Michael from Connecticut, with an average donation of $66.53.
59 donors live in Washington, D.C. and gave an average of $55.67 per donation. Another 13 live in Delaware, with an average donation of $24.23. 259 contributors live in Florida with an average donation of $36.38. 242 donors live in Georgia, with an average contribution of 38.82.
74 donors live in Hawaii for an average contribution of $42.90. I’ve talked (or texted) with several of our Hawaii donors and they talked about how DKos helps them keep up with things on the mainland. Turned them on to Political Wire as a companion read. 28 contributors live in Iowa, with an average donation of 37.18. 18 donors live in Idaho, their average contribution being $24.72 a pop. 471 contributors live in Illinois, and they averaged $43.69 a donation.
Hope Springs from Field PAC began knocking on doors again on March 1st. We target Democrats and unaffiliated voters with a systematic approach that reminds them not only that Democrats care, but Democrats are determined to deliver the best government possible to all Americans. The voters we talk to continue to tell us they come away more invested in governance and feel more favorably towards Democrats in general because of our approach.
Obviously, we rely on grassroots support, so if you support field/grassroots organizing, voter registration (and follow-up) and our efforts to protect our voters, we would certainly appreciate your support:
