A bug infestation - Metaphor [1]

I would have thought this was obvious… it’s a METAPHOR I don’t have bugs.

Let’s say you are a landlord, and you rent out an apartment and your brand new tenant discovers a bug problem on day one, and the source of the bugs is your own apartment above them. They ask you to please have the bugs removed and take care of the source of the problem.

You drag your feet and wait a few months before you send someone to fumigate the apartment, but you don’t fumigate yours. The renter ask you again to please deal with the source of the problem, you give them promises after promises but you never do it. Bugs are infesting everything, the rooms, the furniture, the food, the clothing, even their hair and health. The renter starts to regularly having their apartment fumigated themselves because you have washed your hands of the problem.

You see this and ask if there’s anything you can do to help them out, they tell you yes, clean up your apartment. You get offended. They tell you, they’ve been asking you since day one to get rid of the source of the problem, you then berate them calling them ungrateful. Can’t you see we’re making progress? It’s been over 30 years, why you just let it go? By the way you never thanked me for getting rid of the cockroaches!

And then you say, forget it, I offered to help you clean your apartment of bugs, but you you blame everything on bugs, you says it ruins your clothes, your food, your health, your hair, you’re exaggerating. Besides do you know how hard it is to get rid of bugs once they infest the very ground? You just need to get used to living with the bugs, you complain too much, it’s always pest bugs bugs bugs bugs with you, I’ve gotten rid of the cockroaches, but you still want me to remove bedbugs and ants and every other bug…

I’m sure people can see where this is going, so please get rid of the source of the bugs and stop asking renters to deal with the infestations and you’ll “help them”.
