"Stop Calling ICE the Gestapo" - whines Homeland Security [1]

Yesterday HuffPo reported that DHS complained that ICE was being called and compared to the Gestapo:

The proof of the supposed increase in assaults on ICE agents (or their partners) ? None provided.

But what has been seen is plenty enough to call them “Trump’s Secret Police.” We could call them Stasi, the KGB, Savak, etc. but most people will know exactly what you mean when you say “gestapo”

They have taken people from their homes, cars, out in public, leaving small children behind — without being in the care of an adult to protect them. We have seen them unmarked, unbadged, un-identified, and masked take control of and then whisk people away.

And now the conservative CATO institute has found that at least 50 of the over 200 US immigrants/migrants sent to the El Salvadoran gulag entered LEGALLY

“The government calls them all ‘illegal aliens.’ But of the 90 cases where the method of crossing is known, 50 men report that they came legally to the United States, with advanced US government permission, at an official border crossing point,” Cato wrote in its report. — The Hill

So it doesn’t seem to matter how you come here — if your brown you aren’t wanted. If you’re white, our government will charter a flight for you.

And in a move that is destined to validate the idea that any gains local, state and federal policing agencies had in positive public perception will be lost under the Trump regime, the FBI in Boston will now be helping ICE.

If you think this sounds like the plot of a certain movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, and Mark Wahlberg — that’s because it is.

Bostonians, much of eastern Mass and into Rhode Island haven’t forgotten as the FBI has been trying to create a better image around here, but this will set them back.

Whatever gains in community relations a police department has enjoyed could now all be lost for any that participate. (And I’ve watched enough videos of police arresting people who have caused disturbances, then fought, bit, spit on, peed on, shit on officers who have bent over backwards not to arrest them, to appreciate the job they do sans bad cops ) (The video of arrest of MAGA Mesa County clerk (now convict) Tina Peters was especially enjoyable)

Steve Bannon, a Peters ally and former advisor to President Donald Trump, called Colorado law enforcement "the Gestapo" on his show on Tuesday evening following the arrest. — 9News

And now? it is to laugh

— but all gains those videos can give can all be lost with participation in this.

If you don’t want to be compared to the Gestapo,

STOP ACTING LIKE THE GESTAPO!

And it IS gestapo, not gazpacho.
