Donald thinks Walmart should "eat the tariffs" [1]

Donald is back to his old habit of rapid fire Truth Social posts. It's like there was a brain backlog from the MidEast trip.
Tariffs are front and center, as they have been, especially since April 2nd. He wants Walmart to eat them. He must have seen the Walmart CEO yesterday saying that they will have to raise prices to deal with the tariffs.
"Walmart should STOP trying to blame Tariffs as the reason for raising prices throughout the chain."
Walmart's CEO said it yesterday for the first time. You make it sound like he's been saying it for months. He probably should have. It might have made you wake up to your folly.
"Walmart made BILLIONS OF DOLLARS last year, far more than expected."
With 4,600 stores, if they didn't make a profit, they'd go out of business. They have a very small markup for all it takes to get an item into the store. I'm not defending Walmart. They are not my friend.
"Between Walmart and China they should, as is said, 'EAT THE TARIFFS'..."
As far as I can tell, tariffs are now 30% on Chinese goods. 30% is Walmart's profit margin on the high end. That doesn't take into account the cost of transportation and handling to get it into the store. Take that into account and the margin is far less. At 30% tariff, they would be selling at a loss. Fine for a going out of business sale, but they're trying not to.
"... and not charge valued customers ANYTHING."
That's a really great way to go out of business. Of course, we know he's really talking about passing along the cost of the tariffs to buyers. The size of the tariffs make that impossible not to pass along the costs. Every store of any kind should have a way to show the amount of tariffs on any purchase receipt. It's a tax, just like any other that has to be listed. There's a Democratic proposal in Congress to require that tariffs are listed separately as a cost.
"I'll be watching, and so will your customers!!!"
Sure. Donald is going to start shopping at Walmart. Skip that. He's going to have drones flying around Walmarts to check before and after pricing. The "I'll be watching" is sort of 1984 creepy. But then, he is a creep, so it fits.
Once again, Donald proves that he knows absolutely nothing about running a business, especially a retail one. Every business that he touches personally, dies. Left to be run by his organization is different. But, he's still not knows how they work.
This is going to be interesting. Donald Trump versus Walmart. The fight of the century. Even better than a UFC fight. It's more likely than not, that Donald will come out bloodied. But, he'll just say it's a scratch. Even as his arms and legs are hacked off like the knight in the Monty Python movie.
He just won't give up because he's always right.
