The Words Federal Agencies Are Discouraged From Using Under Trump - The New York Times
The talk around this admiration’s cruelty and ongoing slaughter of democracy has mostly focused on Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and tariffs, etc… the stories about DEI gutting have been mostly talked about in the demographic that’s being targeted that is the Black community.
Are people aware of the list of words that are targeted under DEI cuts? Meaning words that if spotted in proposals, grant projects, essays, studies, institutions, websites, even potential contractors automatically means that program is cut or that a company doesn’t get a job? I don’t pay for the New York times but one should really look at that list.
Quietly across 50 states, companies, contractors, free lancers, websites, job seekers, almost every single person or entity is frantically scrubbing their internet footsteps and their documents to remove “words” that might land them in financial ruin. Programs that address the most fundamental issues of disparity in our country are disappearing. And unless one follows Black media and voices, they are blissfully unaware of the magnitude of the catastrophe looming ahead.
I know the NYT headline says Federal agencies, but one of my consultant jobs was talking about this last week about scrubbing their personnel’s profiles it’s a private company and it’s not in politics, I told them my profile would definitely be flagged and it was decided not to name me.
Sure the big stories like Harvard (keep fighting) are in the news…. But that is merely the tip of the iceberg. Look at the partial and I do mean partial screenshot (for more words see NTY article) of “no no words” … do any of them apply to you? Your job? Your company? Your insurance? Your community? Your school? Your children’s school? Or better yet… how many of them apply?
It’s not merely about funding you see, it’s also about jobs, it’s about if you can get a contract; and not only with the government, but any company that doesn’t want to be blacklisted by said government, it’s about if you can be hired if you reveal you’re neurodivergent, it’s about flying if you need access to a wheelchair, it’s about all them little things you don’t think about cause well DEI is about Black folks right?
Ah, here’s the kicker though, the government can’t outright say they are targeting Black folks, so they target DEI, cause as everyone knows DEI refers to Black people, well people know squat, because DEI refers to a whole lot of things and only a tiny portion of it has to do with being Black.
When a word like Access is on a list, what’s that got to do with being Black? Nothing, it has to do with disabilities and providing access for the disabled. But in a racist’s mind they see it as giving Black Folks “access” to stuff.
As the weeks and months keep rolling by and more and more programs and other things are cut, disappeared, cancelled… maybe just maybe people will get “woke” yes that dirty little word “woke”.
