RIP Hero [1]

It was shortly after our St Bernard, Bruno, died of CHF, aged 8. The large breeds don’t live as long. My daughter heard that someone had a Springer Spaniel up for adoption in our zone. It was love at first sight. He was one year old when we brought him home, from where he’d been spending his days on a bare tiled patio.

Bed ownership issues. Timmy the cat seems quite comfy.

Early relationships with the cat, Timmy, who’d arrived some time earlier via the CDN (Cat Distribution Network) were a bit difficult. Wwe bought a second cat bed as big as the dog’s bed to solve the problem.

Three years later we adopted Celsy, who (we later discovered) was already 7 years old, a bit of an old lady in dog terms. About ten days later, while we humans were still debating, they hooked up and produced a litter.

Celsy and her pups

Celsy lived to 15 years of age.

Hero passed today. He was 14 years and 6 months. The vet was very surprised he’d made it to last Christmas.

If you want to be informed about dog ailments and how to extend their lives, I’ll be happy to discuss that in the comments section.

We still have Lucky of course, our American Pitbull terrier, for which we thank you who helped us fix him up.
