In 2018, Recep Tayyip Erdoğon was gifted a $500 million 747-8i. A better plane than is being offered to Trump.
Sheik Tamim Al Thani donated it to the Turkish state when he heard Turkey was interested in buying it.
Turkey had backed Qatar in a year long standoff after Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt and Bahrain had cut diplomatic ties with the country over close ties with Iran and terrorist organizations. Some things haven't changed with Qatar. They denied the charges, just like they would now.
Turkey sent food by air and sea when Qatar's only land border was closed and ships serving it were banned from many ports. You can see why the Qataris thought the gift of the plane was compensation deserved.
The plane had been delivered to Qatar in 2015. Low mileage.
This plane has a totally different interior.
The cockpit:
The lounge:
The dining room:
One of the bedroom suites:
Meeting room:
Spacious bathroom:
Entertainment room:
Erdoğan told his government it didn't cost a thing, when pressed. Sound familiar?
So, Qatar has a habit of bribing government leaders with planes. Trump may feel jealous if he finds out Erdoğon got a better deal.
But Trump just loved that golden interior. He just couldn't pass it up. After Erdoğan took delivery, he gave it the red paint job.
It has the same fuel efficient engines, more cargo space (26%), which translates to more square footage. Erdoğan still has it.
