Russian stuff blowing up: Putin dismisses ground forces commander [1]

['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.']

Putin is reported to have fired Gen. Oleg Salyukov, commander of ground forces. He was supposedly given a new job as a deputy to former Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.

I suppose that’s better than an invitation to see the beautiful view from a 15th-floor window.

Russia sent a Potemkin delegation to Turkey.

x ❗️“We have a top-level delegation, while the Russian one looks more like a mock-up,” – Zelensky. “We’ll see whether they even have a mandate to make decisions. After my meeting with Erdoğan, we’ll reassess the format.”

This guy who I’ve never heard of, Vladimir Medinsky, is the head of the Russian delegation in Istanbul. He was born in Ukraine and was once head of Russia’s Culture Ministry. Now he is an aide to Putin and is known as an ultra-nationalist.

Patron’s job would be to piss on the Russians’ legs.

x I think we should send Patron Dog to Istanbul, not our delegation... although he has a higher status than those clowns Putin sends 🤷🏻‍♂️

x "We can't be running around the world looking for Putin," – Zelensky. "I feel disrespect from Russia. No meeting time, no agenda, no high-level delegation—this is personal disrespect. To Erdogan, to Trump," – Zelensky at a press conference in Turkey.

x ⚡️'Bark from Moscow' — Kyiv hits back as Russian Foreign Ministry insults Zelensky. "Not the first time the Russian Foreign Ministry becomes a laughing stock," Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi said after Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova called Zelensky a "clown."

And, of course, Trump says no deal is possible until he meets with Putin.

x Donald Trump has said that “nothing is going to happen” on a Russia-Ukraine peace deal until he and Vladimir Putin meet, damping expectations for talks between Russian and Ukrainian ministers due in Turkey.

Russia is so anxious for peace they are making forces for a new offensive.

x Russia is quietly amassing forces near the front for a new offensive aimed at seizing more territory, CNN reports. US officials say Putin still seeks gains in eastern Ukraine—possibly even near Kyiv—despite US calls for a 30-day ceasefire. www.cnn.com/world/live-n...

I had such high hopes for Merz.

What the hell is one guy on a motorcycle doing driving across an open minefield by himself?

And this Russian thought he was Evel Knievel.

This guy thought it was his lucky day.

It wasn’t.

WARNING: Video shows dead Russians.

These Russians seem amused at the destroyed bridge in Snagost, which is in the Kursk region.

x In the morning, unidentified missiles completely destroyed a bridge in the village of Snagost, Kursk region — but the Russians are having a great time nonetheless.

The Russian naval base being built on the Red Sea coast of Sudan apparently came under attack.

x Very interesting, although RSF is supported by Russia via Wagner so something might be lost in the fog of war here

Another 1,220 Russians who should have stayed home.

The EU should sanction Starlink.

x This family celebrated son's growing milestones by blowing out candles over video calls while the father was defending Ukraine on the frontline. When Pavlo fell in battle in January 2025, the candles didn't stop burning. Inna continues their tradition of capturing these precious family moments.
