dsteffen says "HI!" or Where is our regulations historian? [1]

As Trump and his crime syndicate run rampant through our government destroying it and collecting untold wealth for itself I began to wonder where a certain Kossak was.

He was our historian of how and why regulations came to be. Many of us had expressed a desire to print out his dairies and make loose leaf folder/binder books for our children/grandchildren to read. (You can get three holed printing paper. It makes printing and complying a snap)

His last dairy here was in 2015.

Being friends with him on FB I took a hard look at his wall and noticed he hadn’t posted anything there for 3 years. I hate that FB can just let people fade from your feed even if they are active on their walls, so that was one hope dashed when I saw the last time he posted.

I was pretty sure that if he was able, he would be angry and posting about how this administration is endangering everyone. Especially since the America Trump wants to make great again was the last gilded age. Trump wants to make America great again for robber barons, oligarchs, etc. And a dangerous hellscape for the rest of us (either new or continuing)

I knew I had to know if dsteffen was alive and still with us

Tonight he called me! He’s still around, but his options to interact here and on FB are limited as he is now blind.

He says “Hi!” He’s still among the living.

He’s diaries were not just a labor of love, they were/are research intensive. Something he just is not able to do any more. I am looking to see if there is a way he can have dailykos stories read to him without his wife or family members needing to do it — and maybe a talk to text response.

We spoke for a little bit, unfortunately my time on Tuesday nights is taken up with preparation for everything I do on Wednesdays and Thursdays, so I couldn’t talk long. But I do intend to call him early next week.

He would like to see someone take over the “How Regulations Came To Be” series — being a historian I would love to do it, but my eye sight is hit or miss (and as I write that I am now seeing double) at the moment. I’m waiting for my own eye surgery right now AND I am busy with the Protest Songbook, someday I’d like to be able to take it on.

If someone else is able to take it on, dsteffen and I would appreciate it.

I have created a How Regulation Came To Be group to gather everything there too.

dsteffens installments of How Regulation came to be:
