Authoritarians: Xi, Putin and Trump have Similar Issues
Recent The New York Times headlines read, “Xi Can’t Trust His Own Military.” The opinion piece went on to state, “But an ongoing purge by Mr. Xi of his top military ranks casts doubt on that deadline and, in the longer term, whether he can trust his generals to successfully wage war.
“Over the past two years, two defense ministers and a host of senior People’s Liberation Army officers have been removed from their positions, including top leaders of the Rocket Force, which controls China’s nuclear weapons.” The article goes on to discuss the number of senior officers who have been removed.
Donald Trump seems to feel the same way about the loyalty of the U.S. military and also initiated a purge at the highest levels, Specifically, without stating cause, Trump and his totally incompetent SECDEF, Pete Hegseth, for no apparent or stated reason, fired Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (C, JCS) General Charles Q. Brown, a highly accomplished USAF fighter pilot, and Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Lisa Franchetti, a highly respected Naval officer who had the distinction of being CNO of the fleet with Red Sea air defense mission, “shooting down over 70 UAVs, seven cruise missiles, and for the first time in history, 14 anti-ship ballistic missiles.”
Of course, one was black and the other a woman. That is the unacknowledged anti-DEI component of a kakistocracy Trump administration bent on creating their own kleptocratic regime that is undermining American national defense and international security. Notably the major beneficiaries of Trump’s narcissism, incompetence and corruption are Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin.
The reality is that those leaders all have much in common:
- All are governing authoritarians.
- All were elected.
- All are unconstrained by their organizational structures
- All have territorial ambitions well beyond their current borders.
- All are psychologically insecure and do not trust even their inner circles.
- All are amoral with histories of betrayal.
- All feel they are not bound by laws or conventional norms.
- All try to control the media in their domains.
- All have severe economic constraints of their own doing.
- All have made private fortunes based on corruption in the office.
