WYFP: Empty Shelves Open Thread [1]

If you haven’t been squirreling away food and other essentials since January, you haven’t been paying attention, according to experts. I almost feel like a prepper with all the food I have stored.
Trump’s tariffs are going to do major damage to Americans ability to obtain life’s essentials because the President has no idea how modern trade works. Or how the supply chain works.
His advisors are too busy trying to prop up his massive ego to concern themselves with figuring out how to mitigate the damage his tariff policy will have on the American economy.
Tomorrow is Mother’s Day, have you bought flowers this week? Too expensive?
Going out to brunch? Inviting in for brunch because going out is too expensive?
Have your vacation plans changed because of this President’s various attempts at “winning”?
Have your students college plans changed because of this President’s insane attempt to control everything in the country?
What are your ideas for making do once you can’t find what you need? For example: Did you know you can use baking soda for a variety of uses, not just cooking? I use baking soda to wash dishes and have used it in lieu of toothpaste. Yeah, it tastes weird and you can’t swallow it or you’ll burp all day but, if you can’t find any, it’s better than nothing.
What are YOUR ideas for dealing with the coming food/retail apocalypse?
