Kanye song glorifying Nazis is racking up views on Twitter. That's not OK. [1]

Like a lot of Kossacks, I have more or less ceased engaging on Twitter. The breaking point for me came when Elon Musk essentially neutered the block function shortly after the presidential election. But I seriously considered coming back after seeing that Musk’s own AI platform, Grok, brutally fact-checked DNC fundraiser-turned MAGA darling Lindy Li.
x Lindy Li’s claims of Democratic corruption lack public evidence, though her insider role may reveal internal issues. Some Democrats share her concerns about Biden’s fitness and Harris’s campaign, reflecting party divisions. Her “open borders” criticism is outdated, as Democrats… — Grok (@grok) May 10, 2025
This came on the heels of Grok fact-checking Musk himself. Apparently despite Musk’s disregard for the truth, his own platform is trying to cut through the bullshit.
But a recent report from NBC News is giving me pause about going back to active participation on Twitter. In the latest case of Kanye West’s downward spiral, he recently put out a song glorifying Nazis, and Hitler in particular. Most platforms have ixnayed it—except Twitter.
Spotify, SoundCloud and other tech platforms have worked to remove a new song from Ye that praises Adolf Hitler, but the song and its video have continued to proliferate online including across X, where it has racked up millions of views. On various mainstream and alternative tech platforms this week, Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, has been able to share his latest song, titled “Heil Hitler,” along with its companion title, “WW3,” which similarly glorifies Hitler, the architect of the Holocaust.
NBC News deputy tech editor Ben Goggin noticed that Kanye uploaded the video for “Heil Hitler” on Thursday. As of Friday, it racked up 6.5 million views on Twitter, and had also been uploaded on Spotify and SoundCloud Goggin also found numerous reuploads on Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok.
Spotify nuked the song from its platform following pressure from the Anti-Defamation League, and YouTube, SoundCloud, and Facebook appear to have followed suit. However, users have tried to do end runs around the takedowns. Some Spotify users have posted it on the podcast section or uploaded covers, while some SoundCloud users have reuploaded it.
But at least those platforms seem to be doing something. The same can’t be said of Twitter—and it looks like Kanye is doubling down.
Ye’s most recent repost is of a video mixing historical clips of Hitler together with his song as a backing track. He also shared a video on X of influencer Andrew Tate — a self-described misogynist — playing the song in his car. That video has been viewed over 3 million times.
Kanye has already been suspended from Twitter at least twice since Musk took over. After this, his mic needs to be snipped permanently. The fact this song has been spreading on Twitter for this long, to put it mildly, makes me extremely reluctant to end my boycott of Twitter. Anyone who is still on Twitter, report Kanye’s account. Do it now.
