Hogg & Maher interview [1]

Lots of people are talking about the Hoggs & Maher interview, and the bit about Hoggs saying young people’s priorities are to get laid and have fun… me? That’s not the bit I found concerning.
Hogg said, the democrats have become the “judgmental party” and the two parties have “switch places” that’s the bit I’m concerned with for that’s the bit that sounds like right wing talking points to me.
I will remind Davig Hogg that it is not the democratic party judging people. If I recall correctly, it was Republicans who attacked AOC for dancing, Harris for laughing, LGBTQIA folks for existing, Drag Queens for reading books. It is the Republicans who are banning books from Black authors, LGBTQIA authors, books about civil rights, and even banning words in some states. Hell, they have scrubbed the word diversity and respect from some sites. It is not the Democratic party removing anything (pictures/books/achievements) to dark from every existing institution in the US even artifacts in Museums.
It is not the Democrats judging breast-feeding mothers, or the sexual activities of non-straight people. It is not the Democrats judging how people (women) dress. It is not the Democrats firings Generals and other elected officials for a trans person. It is not Democrats planning to ban porn. It is not Democrats taking down the image of a plane because the name of a plane was “Gay” (edited, the plane was named after the pilot’s mother Elona Gay)
People like Hogg need to learn that asking people to mind their language when it comes to marginalized groups may be a judgement call, but it’s like asking a bully to stop bullying. Not all judgment calls are created equal. Asking to stop using the N word, is not the same as banning trans folks from the armed forces.
It is not the Democrats who are reviving the stigmatization of the neurodivergent community. Or demonizing the immigrant communities. No David Hogg, the Democrats are not the judgmental party, for that you need to look to the right. Asking people not to insult others, intentionally or not, is not the same as restricting or erasing their rights.
It is not Democrats judging women for having abortions or living their lives. It is not Democrats thinking women shouldn’t vote or work. It is Republicans.
And it is beyond ironic, that as you sit there judging the democratic party and encouraging others to do so, you have the audacity to call them judgmental because you’re being asked to consider people’s feelings when you talk, and at the same time giving a pass to the republican party by saying they are more laid back simply because they have revived hated and bigotry in speech. It is beyond disturbing in one who would see himself as an upcoming leader of the left and the progressive party to ignore all the judgement calls coming from the right as they are being put down into laws!
Now if being able to say the N word, the C word, the R word or any of those other words is more important to the youth of the United States than their rights being stripped away, I have misjudged the youth of this country.
