I get emails from longtime train model company Atlas (famous for track, and for highly detailed models).
While quality model manufacturing was, for a long time, centered in Japan and Korea, the bulk of the models are now made in China. (This is not to diss the quality of European and Canadian suppliers, though their focus is principally European prototypes; we could have a nice long discussion of the fact that you can get good running small switchers in England, but it’s impossible to find an American Porter, Vulcan or Baldwin … )
But this is all beside the point. Hobby groups are organizing to oppose the insane tariffs cooked up in Demento-Don’s brain.

Aside from Barbie dolls, there are model trains, all sorts of R/C planes and cars and boats, and on and on. Where do Hobby Lobby and Michaels get their materials? You get one guess.
It’s been many, many decades since model trains were principally manufactured in the U.S.
