Does far right Maga Opus Dei have a friendly operative making editorial decisions at Newsweek?
In short. Yes.
Far right watch dogs, like Southern Poverty Law Center, noticed a few years ago that Newsweek was no longer the Newsweek we grew up with. It had gone down a hard right rabbit hole with its new opinion editor, Josh Hammer.
With the death of Francis and now Conclave, Newsweek has given Opus Dei Pope Francis critics a place to lobby and oppose the naming of another Francis style pope.
Two op eds in the last 10 days, one by the head of US Opus Dei, an official prelature of the church that Francis spent the last years of his life trying to reform. Accused of criminal human trafficking in Argentina, financial malfeasance in Spain, Francis clipped Opus Dei wings and forced it to accept drastic reforms, redefining its role, that were to be signed just days before his death. When Francis died, the reforms were put on hold, and Opus Dei awaits a new pope that could, with the flick of the papal mitre, give Opus Dei a reprieve.
In addition, a Newsweek deputy opinion editor, Philip Jeffery, who is close to Opus Dei, published a scathing review of Gareth Gore’s book Opus in another publication last December.
Opus Dei friends and family have reason to dislike Gore’s book. It is meticulously documented with source and footnotes, and well reviewed by scores of other publications, including the Washington Post and Financial Times. Also, US Opus Dei was not pleased that Gore’s book exposed the Leonard Leo far right web, filled w Opus Dei associates and members, in political DC.
An Opus Dei mole at Newsweek? Inconceivable!!!
Yet Laura Ingrham and Larry Kudlow, both converts to far right Opus Dei under the auspices of DC K St Opus Dei, have high profile media platforms. Is it a stretch to think that Opus Dei has a few more editors and writers salted around in other media?
Sounds Divinci Code crazy. Is it Hammer or Jeffery? Or Kushner?
Turns out, facts are stranger than Obama birther, chem trails.
