AI (Not the steak sauce) How many more are scraping our information? Well, eBay is. [1]

I just stumbled on this today. I use eBay fairly often, not every day but I check for things once in a while. It was very useful for a part for my old lawn tractor, for instance, after the manufacturer no longer provided parts for the older models. And I’ve found some interesting things.
So this morning I was checking for some antique photos, as I’ve written about previously here and here. As with many things, the prices have gone up too much for my budget, considering this is only a hobby interest, so I wanted to check on sellers I’ve bought from previously.
I’m not sure exactly how I stumbled on the page in the title photo, and I had a time trying to find it again once I’d opted out and decided to write about it.
Here are the steps I had to go through to get to it again. This isn’t my original path, which was an accident, but this works.
At the very bottom of (any?) page, you’ll see some links in tiny blue letters, too small to reproduce here effectively. But click on the one that says “Privacy”. The page you go to has the list on the left of the following image.
Scroll down to #12, eBay and AI. You’ll get this page.
This is the second part of that page.
Under the heading AI-related individual rights you’ll see the link, “right to object”. Clicking on that will take you to the title page.
Opt out if you want. Actually, if you don’t choose to, please let me know why in the comments.
I’m not picking on eBay here. It’s an example. But now I feel I need to do a search through every website I use. Is Ravelry being used to search the knitting patterns I’m interested in? What about Thriftbooks? Want to know what used books I’m looking for? Are Lion Brand or KnitPicks giving out information on my yarn purchases?
No, I do NOT welcome our new AI overlords. I’ll probably lose this fight; I may have lost it already. But I’m too stubborn to give up.
