Tuesday 5/6 edition of lots of Dems doing what we want them to do... [1]

['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.']

Date: 2025-05-06

This series is born out of frustration with seeing people on social media and this site say, “Where are the Dems?” or “What are the Dems doing?” This is not meant as an exhaustive list, but merely as a highlight of the types of the activities and statements they’re doing and making.

A big welcome to all of you who are new to this series, which I publish Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Please, before you complain about the party, take a few minutes of time to see if your concerns are being addressed.

I also encourage EVERYONE to check out the following diary series: lpeacock does Thursday diaries on the Congressional Black Caucus. Dfh1 is doing a Monday and Friday series that spotlight individual Democrats. T2 has also just begun a series called the Rainbow Roundup, where focus is placed on LGBTQ lawmakers and journalists. And Billboteach has one focusing on Hispanic elected Democrats.

You can gain easy access to all these diaries by following the Democratic Party Spotlight Group.

x The cost of living is too high, and Trump and Republicans want to make it worse by taxing everyday essentials and cutting the services Americans rely on.

House Democrats will keep fighting to protect working families.

Solid response here from Chair Ken Martin.

This is a two-fer for Rep. Gwen Moore. She gets local news coverage for her town hall.

x I’m committed to being accessible to my constituents and making sure they know they have someone fighting for them in Washington. I won’t stop working to defend their rights and hard earned benefits.

x Duckworth on if she's open to voting to confirm Mike Waltz: "I think everybody on that Signal chain needs to be fired ... he's failing up ... I'm not open to voting for him, no, because he's already demonstrated he's incapable of doing the most basic thing, which is handling classified information."

x Democrats are fighting in the courts, the halls of Congress, and our communities. Change doesn’t happen overnight—so Democrats are in it for the long haul.

x Trump targets the vulnerable. He scapegoats immigrants and trans people constantly. But WHY is Trump using this oldest trick in the book? Trump doesn’t want us united against him as prices go up, as people lose their jobs, and as the economy tanks.

x Donald Trump's memecoin is the equivalent of posting his Venmo on the internet. Corruption in it's most obvious form. We need accountability.

x When my team called the local Social Security office, the wait was 3 hours long. Trump and Musk’s cuts to Social Security will only make it worse. I joined seniors, advocates, and Social Security employees to sound the alarm.

Democrats doing Democratic things…

x Donald Trump is lying to the American people when he says that Republicans do not plan to cut Medicaid. — Hakeem Jeffries (@hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social) May 4, 2025 at 10:21 AM

x If Trump follows through on re-imposing all of his across-the-board tariffs, they’ll raise prices even more on the things you buy every day: groceries, gas, and more. It’s an irresponsible plan that will only make life harder for Nevadans. — Senator Jacky Rosen (mirror) (@senjackyrosen.govpeeps.us) May 4, 2025 at 10:29 AM

x Reporter: Don’t you need to uphold the Constitution of the United States as President? Trump: I don’t know This is deeply disturbing. Please spread the word on this.

x House Republicans spent years chasing scandals about Democrats. Now Trump’s raking in billions and selling access to the highest bidder—and they look the other way. Their hypocrisy isn’t just shameless, it’s corrupt.

x Our most immoral and unethical president may also be our most religious—or most irreligious— depending on your views of religion. Either way, he’s definitely our most unconstitutional president.

x LIHEAP helps low-income families afford their A/C bills during Arizona's deadly hot summers. I'm leading the fight against the Trump Administration's dangerous attempt to claw back funding for this program.

x This Military Appreciation Month, I’m proud to honor all who have and continue to serve our nation. As a veteran myself, I’m committed to ensuring our service members, veterans, and military families receive the appreciation, respect, and support they deserve. 🇺🇸

A BIG national security risk!

x Staffers for Elon Musk's DOGE were given access to classified details about our nuclear weapons. It’s the same agency where DOGE fired hundreds of workers in February — and had to immediately rehire them. Protect our national security. Fire Elon Musk.

x Warnock: Georgia officials said they were sorry but their hands were tied, you can’t vote the first weekend of the runoff after the holiday so I decided to untie them, I sued them. And I won… They appealed asking for emergency relief. Emergency relief from what? People voting? pic.twitter.com/aqAK4r9283 — Acyn (@Acyn) May 4, 2025

x Big news for L.A. — we’re launching a self-certification program and exploring the use of AI to further expedite the permitting process.
