The Condition of Our Times... a Brief Poem [1]

I have no introduction for this poem. Poems, in general, need to speak for themselves. Instead, I will extend what I rise up with every morning. And that is: Love sent to you – one and all; and the wish that these troubled days bring out the best qualities in all of us that make life worth living...
As History Tells
How patient has measles' red dots been
hiding in the battlefield
knowing one day stupidity
would yield
again the chance to re-engage the foe
and spread its diseasing woe,
but that happens when we
blithely elect
a president
with a broken brain
who then goes on
and selects
other folks with intellects
like his
as equally as strained and stained –
whose main effect
is to bow and scrape
and break, break, break.
And thus a country's dark descent
comes about as
proportions of its population
becomes 'plascent
and material comforts bind
their bodies, hearts and minds
with a world view that's shrinking
letting greedy liars do their thinking,
so soon they'll know
with faces pale,
as history's tales always tell,
that this old Earth, oh, well,
is forever but, one step away,
from a living hell.
