So I Wrote A Protest Song; "They’ll Know We Are Patriots By Our Love" [1]

I know, I know I said I wasn’t a song writer. But the day after I wrote that I woke up with this song in my head.
So I accessed the song it is based on, wrote down all the verses, including the ones that were so angry that they in the end didn’t make the cut. (like writing letters, etc. you have to do that sometimes to find the good stuff, the better way to say it without alienating people, etc.)
I emailed WarrenS asking if he could workshop the song with me to get out the rough spots and remove the bad stuff that I couldn’t see my way out of (it turns out I had already written the way out of it, I just needed to apply it else where. I needed Warren to show/tell me.)
I just got off the phone with Warren (who contributed verse 4) and now I’m sharing it with you.

It is melody/tune is based on the song “They’ll Know We Are Christians By Our Love” . Tune can be found here and here. However the version I learned as a teen growing up in a very liberal conference of the United Methodist Church was more up tempo and joyful than these dirges I found on youtube.
I’ll add it to the Protest Songbook tonight.
