My Circling Cat [1]

Yesterday was a bad day. In addition to all the usual horror we all face, I was laid off. Needless to say, I was all over the map emotionally.

I could not control my thoughts and I was very agitated. I tried to find mindless TV to still my mind, but I couldn’t stand anything. I tried to nap upstairs, but the cats aren’t allowed in our bedroom and my cat Majesty meowed outside the room. She wouldn’t let me sleep. I tried a few times to disappear into the bedroom but she always came up and meowed by the door relentlessly.

I wanted to nap, to just shut my mind off, so I moved to a guest room bed and left the door open.

She came in and rather than find a place beside me as she usually would have done, she instead just circled around me constantly. Head butting and just marching around my head and feet. I kept asking her to lie down, but she wouldn’t. I think she sensed the disturbance and her pacing was like she was trying to exercise demons. In a way, she was. She eventually settled down beside me, and we slept a little.

When I woke up she was there and I felt a little better for the first time yesterday.

The waves of unease and depression will continue, but you can’t tell me Majesty doesn’t know my emotional state.

Can anyone explain the circling? It went on for at least 10 minutes.
