Warren Buffet is stepping aside. After many decades of success and more than a few failures, he and his strategy have proven to be winners.

When asked about it, he said this weekend,

Buffett, on Saturday, talked to a young man who asked about overcoming setbacks. "I would focus on the things that have been good in your life rather than the bad things that happen, because bad things do happen. It can often be a wonderful life even with some bad breaks.”

He also discussed his own mistakes, bad judgment, and changing course. For example, the UK supermarket chain, Tesco, was an investment he had high hopes for. It ended up costing him $444,000,000. "I made a big mistake with this investment by dawdling.”

Throughout his life, Buffet learned from his bad moves, and strove not to repeat them.

DonOld J. Trump is the anti-Buffet. (Unless it involves endless burgers, diet cokes and fries). He is never wrong, or it was someone else’s fault.

Greenland/Canada - He is still threatening close, trustworthy, friendly allies. WHY? The easy answer is because he is a short tempered vulgarian, thin-skinned, easy to anger, and mostly, an unthinking, emotion-driven, pathetic jerk, intent on retribution at all costs. Why? Because he is a short tempered vulgarian, thin-skinned, easy to anger, and mostly, an unthinking, emotion-driven, pathetic jerk, intent . . . . There are several worse figures throughout history, but every one of them caused massive loss of life, economic destruction and more. Perhaps Trump just wants to be the “bestest” at being bad. Anyway, despite his own major domestic problems, Putin is one happy fellow.

Movies - he wants to add 100% tariffs on movies shot outside of the US. Wa Da fa? You think we have a monopoly on creativity and talent? I can’t even . . .

UPS - An early casualty. They were forced to lay off 20,000 and close many locations simply because Trump’s temper tariffs will destroy demand for UPS services. 20,000 families which had reasonable income, great benefits, and more. If they made crates big enough, I am sure we could crowdfund the cost of shipping Trump to the antarctic. The price of his Tariff Tantrum will cost the entire country dearly.

Harvard - Apparently someone there made fun of him some years ago. The most telling aspect of Trump is that he never forgets or forgives . . . . a slight. His demands? (Subject to change on an hourly bases):

Eliminating Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs

Banning face coverings during campus protests

Implementing merit-based hiring and admissions

Cooperating fully with immigration enforcement

Denying recognition to student groups accused of illegal activity or harassment

Submitting to an external audit of departments suspected of ideological bias

He is not a sane person. This round, his aides are not sane, they are worse than he. Blondie? DUI Hogsbreath? Miller? Unmitigated evil, shameless, greedy, self-serving and quite possibly traitorous. No wonder trump loves them.

Fruits and Veggies (and other farm goods)- Without seasonal workers, this industry will wither on the vine. Literally. Exports, clean, healthy food sources, chemical and pesticide testing and prevention of overuse. Oh, he is not just attacking the seasonal workers, he has already eliminated inspectors and most Dot.Gov resources. He already screwed most farmers who invested in the future, due to promises made, now unkept. Not only will the amount of all farm products go down, so will the quality and safety of all of them. A deadly result of his Tariff Tantrum.

Costco shopping - Honey went shopping yesterday, before the storm. (Financial, not weather related) No empty carts, no places to park, and wall to wall customers. People, apparently, do follow the news, and were aware that the costs of EVERYTHING will rise solely because of his Tariff Tantrum. Even a pre-holiday shopping crowd had nothing on the crowds of yesterday. What struck her was the kind of purchases people were stocking up on. High value goods, large bundles (which Costco is famous for) and not just groceries or normal consumables.

Warren Buffet would have changed directions, when witnessing the horror his economic policies are creating. Trump? He is double down.

We are doomed. Given how the US economy, once the pride and joy, the envy of the world, and the financial centre and base of stability for the world economy? He has abdicated our role and will leave us eating dust.
