Politics as a Blood Sport [1]

Can we get back to politics being boring rather than a blood sport? Our economy, recently the envy of the world, plummeting to the brink of a recession is anxiety-inducing.
People snatched off the streets, denied due process, and shipped off to forced labor camps is not part of the promise of America. First they take foreigners, then they take students, who’s next? Is it safe to protest anymore?
They have so much data on us; they know our voting preferences; they know what we buy; they know our social media profiles; there is no privacy anymore. They continue to strip away our rights: women’s autonomy, the right to vote, the right to confront our representatives without being hauled away in handcuffs.
This is not the America that it was six months ago. Now other countries shun us. They cannot trust us. They pity those of us who did not vote for this madness. Many of us knew that there would be no guardrails in this administration, no adults in the room to stop the insanity. It’s worse then we could’ve even imagined. Will there be another election? This is what happens in authoritarian countries, not a democracy.
