The journey is the prize [1]

I have been painting most of my life. Only recently have I quit my full time job and business of 24 years and dedicated myself to my art. I have enough money to reinvent myself once again.

This is a pattern for me. I have held so many jobs and careers in my 63 years it’s exhausting to even try to list them. Suffice it to say I am essentially crazy.

But for me the problem solving of creating a piece of art starting with a blank canvas is exciting. Whether it’s from a photo or just some idea percolating in my head, I find the process very fulfilling .

the above shot was the blocking day. I had an idea. A glimpse in my mind of yet another landscape; no where in particular. But I knew I wanted it to be vibrant, thick, rich.

A full week later I finished it. On my personal art scale I give a solid A-. I got out over my skis a few times and had to backtrack. So many layers and textures can cause issues when trying to correct a perceived mistake. But it was the process that made it joyous. If it sells even better. But I have over 50 canvases completed and stacked.

ps….. I did sell 2 paintings this last month so there is hope.
