Just yesterday, Al Green was on the House floor quoting Dr. King, "The time is always right to do what is right, even when there are consequences. You must be prepared for consequences. But you must do what is right." He said this while holding Rep. Shri Thanedar's articles of impeachment in one hand and his cane in another to accentuate points. It was a 4 and a half minute speech commending Thanedar and adding his name to co-sponsor the impeachment articles.
Four and a half minute speech by Al Green on YouTube about Thanedar's articles of impeachment.
It was an empty chamber, but so what? This was his second speech. The first one was forty minutes long. He called it a preview of his articles of impeachment.

I'll transcribe the important points.
"You can be impeached for saying bad things about Congress. Andrew Johnson was..."
It's a little more complicated than that, but it did set a standard for when an impeachment was called for, and a more definitive separation of powers between the executive and the legislature. Donald Trump isn't just getting rid of the separation, he's taking over the legislature.
"Brothers and sisters, an impeachment is whatever a majority of Congress says it is, at any given time, on any given day."
Green goes over due process and how Trump is ignoring it and direct orders from the Supreme Court. The title of his first article is:
"Devolving Democracy, within the United States into a dictatorship, with himself as a defacto dictator... he has now disregarded the separation of power, and he has encroached upon the power of the judiciary, a co-equal branch of government...he is engaging in defacto ethnic cleansing...this is a nouveau ethnic cleansing... "
He explains that this is not the type of ethnic cleansing that has been described in the past. That's why he calls it a nouveau ethnic cleansing. Done in a different way by taking people off the street and disappearing them.
"I remember when you were a suspect just because you were Black... the people in the Latino community are living in fear because they see what's happening..."
A long talk on due process and what is happening to people in his own District.
Then he gets back to his articles of impeachment. One covers the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia and how the President of El Salvador and Trump were in the Oval Office and could have taken care of things right on the spot, but Bukele said he wasn't authorized to return Kilmar. Even though the Supreme Court had already ruled that Trump had to facilitate his return.
He describes his actions at Trump's speech that got him kicked out and said he was prepared for the consequences for what he did.
"He called the people on this side of the aisle lunatics. He's never been reprimanded. He's never been sanctioned. This house could issue a resolution of reprimand if we just had the guts, the intestinal fortitude..."
Green goes over Trump's post where he called for the judge to be impeached. The one that got Chief Justice Roberts to make a public statement.
"I'm not going to allow this Congress to escape without having a record of what this President is doing..."
Trump practices, "Pick-pocket politics... the president always tries to retract... the media will allow him to say that the last thing he said is what he really meant... you never do that for Barack Obama, you never do for that for the last president, God bless him, the honorable Joe Biden..."
Lastly he talks about the tariffs.
"You did this to acquire a bargaining position? Well, Canada didn't think so! Canada didn't think it was a bargaining position when you said you wanted to make it the 51st state. Greenland didn't think so... Mr. President, you shall have articles of impeachment presented by Al Green, member of Congress, because I'll be fulfilling my constitutional responsibility to do so."
During his speech, Green said that this wouldn't be the only articles of impeachment that he would be presenting. He's got one more planned, possibly two. If Trump stays in office, it's going to be a lot more than that.
After Trump posted on Truth Social complaining about Democrats wanting to impeach him, previously talking about the man with the cane, this time as a whackjob, Green put out a statement:
"I'm coming for you, Mr. President!
Yes, he is.
