about Rap Music and TikTok at May Day Protests [1]

Maine had its share of May Day events around the state. the biggest was in Portland, where 3,000+ people joined a 1.5 mile march across the city. I have been providing music for this series of protests but only brought two drummers with me yesterday.

After the event was over and the crowd was dispersing, a guy came up and recited a poem he wrote while working at his farm.

I asked the drummer to lay down a rap beat, and the farmer spilled the t once again.

In our area, we have tended to publicize events on FaceBook, but a month ago we decided to put more effort into TikTok and it seems to have attracted people to attend who might not otherwise have done so.
