Do not troll the diary. If you hate pootie diaries, leave now. No harm, no foul.

Please do share pics of your fur kids! If you have health/behavior issues with your pets, feel free to bring it to the community.

Pooties are cats; Woozles are dogs. Birds... are birds! Peeps are people.

Whatever happens in the outer blog STAYS in the outer blog. If you’re having “issues” with another Kossack, keep it “out there.” This is a place to relax and play; please treat it accordingly.

There are some pics we never post: snakes, creepy crawlies, any and all photos that depict or encourage human cruelty toward animals. These are considered “out of bounds” and will not be tolerated. If we alert you to it, please remember that we do have phobic peeps who react strongly to them. If you keep posting banned pics...well then...the Tigress will have to take matters in hand. Or, paws.

Not a great week for me so as a distraction gave myself a brief research project into ….

F. Scott Fitzgerald and The Great Gatsby . The book was a flop when first released in 1925 selling only 20,000 copies at a time when, as The New York Times noted, “gin was the national drink and sex the national obsession”. However, re-released to soldiers serving during WWII Gatsby, gained a new audience and a new appreciation, some now calling it the Great American Novel.

My preferred movie edition: Robert Redford as Gatsby, yet for me both in the book and movie the most interesting character was the first person narrator Nick Carraway (in the movie Sam Waterston), who in the opening paragraph related this advice from his father:

“Whenever you feel like criticizing any one…just remember that all people in this world haven’t had the advantages that you’ve had.” Then, 5 paragraphs later, “...Gatsby who represented everything for which I have an unaffected scorn...Gatsby turned out all right at the end, it was what preyed on Gatsby: what foul dust that floated in...” Remind anyone of the DC billionaire bubble?
