Where are the Fox News “Meme-Police” when the country really needs them?
(Probably quieting “stocking up” before the Trump Recession — so that their kids don’t get a “lump of coal,” in their seasonal stockings ...)
'Two dolls instead of 30': Trump acknowledges prices will force consumers to cut back
USA Today — April 30, 2025
He wasn’t wearing a green suit and hat, but President Donald Trump sounded a Grinch-like warning, suggesting American children may have to settle for fewer toys at Christmas because of his tariffs on products from China.
[...] “You know, somebody said, ‘Oh, the shelves are going to be open,’” he said. “Well, maybe the children will have two dolls instead of 30 dolls. And maybe the two dolls will cost a couple bucks more than they would normally.” Trump’s remarks came as retailers have raised concerns that his tariffs could raise the prices on products like new clothes, bikes and toys . Nearly 80 percent of the toys sold in the United States are made by factories in China.

Better stock up on those back-to-school supplies too, before the chaos of the Trump Trade War inflicts its very foreseeable damage …
Empty Retail Shelves Could Disrupt Back-To-School And Holiday Shopping
www.forbes.com — April 29, 2025
Key Background In any normal year, retailers and wholesalers start to receive inventory for the back-to-school through holiday shopping season by mid-May through early June. While shoppers have yet to experience empty shelves because retailers pulled forward merchandise orders earlier this year, each passing week of reduced shipments increases the prospects of “Covid-like” shortages later in the year , Apollo Management economist Torsten Slok warned. Last week, the CEOs of Walmart, Target, and Home Depot met with President Trump at the White House to tell him much the same thing.
[...] What To Watch For The longer the China-U.S. trade impasse lasts, the worse the disruption will be. “Expect ships to sit offshore, orders to be canceled, and well-run generational retailers to file for bankruptcy ,” Apollo Management’s Slok wrote in a research note. By the end of May, he said domestic freight demand will “come to a halt,” followed by significant layoffs in the trucking, logistics and retail industries in early June. Ultimately, it could lead to what he called a “voluntary trade reset recession.”
Not only will the shelves be bare — but lots and lots of hard-working Americans will be forced into the Unemployment lines, to boot.
All because the power-mad occupant of the White House thinks that it is now his job to “run the country and the world” …
The delusional one failed to complete that thought: “… into the ground.”
