The above night blooming cactus has 7 buds on it and 2 opened this morning. They are bright red and stayed open all day. They look like they will last 2 or 3 days. They are quite large.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. I cut the ends of the old plant and rooted them. These grew and this is the first flower. I see now that the picture is fuzzy but it is still pretty. This plant has bloomed every year in May since 2014 when Rubi died. My Saturday BFF gave it to me.

I saw the post yesterday from Frank’s Human and he had these in his garden but called them something else. I love the little circlets of flowers, like a bride’s crown.
Red headed irish stranger
My Saturday BFF gave me the original amaryllis bulb that split into 3. The original bloomed a couple of weeks ago and these 2 showed up today but they have only 3 flowers instead of 4. They may do better next year and the one that is most closed here probably will because I gave it to Margie today and she is like Daisy Gamble from “On a clear day”. Everything she touches grows!
