On April 24, the venerable Hubble Space Telescope celebrated its 35th anniversary, Launched in 1990, on Space Shuttle Discovery during the STS-31 mission, after 5 servicing missions and with only 2 out of 6 gyros now operational, Hubble is still going strong, unfolding the mysteries of the Universe from its perch 540 km above earth. science.nasa.gov/…

The Hubble team released these new images as part of the 35th anniversary celebration -
Mars front and back, with polar caps, thin water-ice clouds and multiple terrestrial features. The planetary nebula NGC 2899, 4,500 light years away. A small section of the Rosette Nebula, 5,200 light years away. Barred Spiral Galaxy NGC 5335, 236.2 million light years away.
