From the Neighborhood, For the Neighborhood: Meet Therese V. Wakefield-Gamble Podcast [1]

Therese V. Wakefield-Gamble is no stranger to the challenges facing working families, educators, small business owners, and faith-based leaders across Florida, because she is all those things.

A lifelong Jacksonville resident, educator, and entrepreneur, Therese is running to represent Florida House District 14 in 2026. She’s led classrooms, mentored minority-owned businesses, survived a life-threatening brain aneurysm (undergoing three (3) brain surgeries in 120 days without having a stroke or a heart attack), and still managed to stay on the Dean’s List since 2021 while earning dual doctoral degrees in Educational Leadership specializing in trauma-informed practices and social-emotional learning set to graduate fall of 2025.

But her story runs even deeper.

From growing up in Jacksonville’s historic Newtown neighborhood to co-founding a mobile outreach ministry with her husband Earnest Sr., Therese’s life has been rooted in service, not status. She’s the founder of CRPCNOW (a JSEB-certified firm and KIVA Crowdfunding partner), the leader of the Duval Democratic Environmental Caucus, and chair of the newly launched Putting People and Community First Political Action Committee.

Her voice has reached global audiences — from international speaking engagements and published work, to her feature in H&R Block’s global career recruitment campaign promoting financial literacy.

But beyond the accolades and advocacy, Therese is offering something that Florida needs now more than ever: people-first leadership grounded in faith, resilience, and community action.
