When will be the next series of rallies in Colorado? A Colorado State Open Thread, 4/28/2025 [1]

The Colorado State Open Thread is written to provoke thoughts and input from our fellow citizens and non-citizens who are interested in the goings-on involving our square(ish) state. The photo above is from the latest of the biweekly protests and while I’m hoping those will continue and grow, I won’t be able to participate in whatever comes along as I will be in the far east. I look forward to any reports in upcoming Open Threads.
The last two statewide series of demonstrations that were organized by 51501 with the “Hands Off” label were tied together with Indivisible. The 50501 website is calling for the symbolic day of May 1st to be the next national day of action — this coming Thursday. They’re not waiting for Saturday, when many offices will be closed and people will be off from work. I think it will be interesting to see how many people choose to skip work and protest instead. I hope there are a great many and it would be nice to see many take advantage of decent weather (as of this writing on Friday night, Alexa predicts 62 degrees and cloudy but no rain in Denver) to get out and shut down some streets and offices in Denver.
Again, I’ll have to read reports from you and see any photos you might care to post.
As for other news, I was very interested to see on 9News on Friday that the FBI is going to be sending a few more agents to Colorado to help with the backlog of cold cases on Native American reservation lands. Oh, I see. You thought they’d be helping with Colorado’s Native American reservation cold cases. No. In keeping with the government’s spending more money than it has to, these agents are going to be working Wyoming cold cases, but from Colorado offices even though Colorado’s reservations have cold cases too. Why is this being done in this fashion? No response has come back from the FBI yet.
Just because we need some humor, from Fox 31 (and it was also on 9News) but I’ll give you the Fox link: MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell’s legal team accused of submitting inaccurate, AI-generated brief to Colorado court.
DENVER — MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell and his legal team have to explain themselves to a federal judge in Colorado after she discovered a recent brief they submitted pointed to fake court cases as evidence. According to court documents, federal judge Nina Wang found about 30 defective citations in a brief Lindell’s legal team filed in February. The defects range from misquotes to “citations of cases that do not exist”. “You can use it. It’s not a prohibition, but you have to go check the cites. If you’re going to cite ‘People versus Smith’ and this is the case number, you’ve got to go look to see, is there such a case?”, David Lane said. Lane is an attorney in Denver. He is not involved with the case, but said it will be one the entire law community keeps a close eye on.
Of course, this was part of a filing for his part of the Dominion voting machine libel case. It’s hard to believe anyone could be worse than Alina Habba. Remember, “Only the best people ...”
I hope you get out and have fun waving signs and protesting the Trump/Musk administration. John in Denver will have the next two Open Threads and then if there are no volunteers, you’ll be stuck looking at each others’ comments until I get back. As always, the floor is yours...
