Can We Turn the Tables Back Where They Belong? [1]

My writing table’s 8 square feet (4’x2’) fit the decor and do the job. But now, with CECOT warming the cockles of Donald Trump’s heart, it hits me: my humble tabletop looms markedly larger than the 6.5 square feet (!) meted out by Trump pal Nayib “World’s Coolest Dictator” Bukele to each CECOT prisoner/unperson.
Two threads of irony arise. One, tradition allows Trump, should he choose, to don the fervent (though informal) sobriquet “leader of the free world.” (Free. As in, brimming with liberty and justice for all.)
Two, while painting himself our Lord Protector from bad actors, thugs, vermin, and such, Trump himself has stood trial for deeds that might appall the devil. In May, 2023, a civil jury found him liable for sexual assault. The following May (let it be stressed) a criminal one CONVICTED HIM ON SOME 34 FELONY COUNTS.
And now, our First Felon turns the tables (with a vengeance). Urging Bukele to build CECOT clones, his sole plausible motive looks to be to set up a fruited plain to banana republic pipeline- ready to seize, ship, and store anyone (as the plight of Kilmar Abrego Garcia suggests) with tattoos, world views, or what have you out of step with his overtly monarchial druthers.
This is not a drill. He ran not so much for POTUS as for dictator (just for a day, wink wink). Sure enough, “with a twinkle in his eye,” he crows “I run the country and the world.”
Backs to the soil in our last ditch stand to rescue governance of/by/for the people from the now gloating, preening, hellbent potentate, what on Earth could possibly go wrong?
