Black Folks have it better in the USA... [1]

This ain’t the flex you think it is

This phrase has been thrown in my face many a times when discussing racial issues (not on DK). Better than what? I’ve asked… the answer is always “then Blacks in other countries”. Maybe, didn’t research it because I’m talking about American citizens in the United States of America not being treated as other American citizens in America.

I’m comparing how the US, treats citizens of its own country based on their color or gender or both. Having it “better” is an acknowledgement that we are not treated the same in our own country as other citizens. Using another country as a measuring stick is one of the most ludicrous arguments when talking about equal rights amongst the US’s varied citizenry.

Now, to add insult to injury, you spent years telling us to “get over slavery” that “you don’t see color” and “there wasn’t racism in the US until Obama brought it back”. Today, as you watch the erasing of Black and other Minorities from every corner of the US, from institution, websites, books, history and curriculums, tell me again how we have it better in the USA!

Today as you are either cajoling, asking, demanding, etc… that Black folks “unite” with you to take down the fascist regime that you helped get into power either actively or passively, saying that you will “have our backs” I can’t help but question your motives, because the only one my back has ever needed protection from was you, it’s always been you sticking knives into it.

We don’t want Americans to do better in the USA than in other countries, we want to do as well as the privilege class in the USA because we are all effing Americans and should have the same salary, justice, opportunity, grants, loans, etc… doing better is not part of equality, neither is your oft touted progress. We want equality. E-Qua-Li-Ty!

I don’t know when it will break through to you that progress and better are not synonyms of equality, it seems to be a difficult concept for you to understand, I mean 500+ years and you still haven’t been able to grasp your own concept of All are created equal. You still think that pointing to progress and how Black folks do better in the US is something to be proud of. It’s not. It’s something to be ashamed of. That after so many decades you as a nation has failed your citizenry to this degree on your own stated principles.

So no, don’t look to me (I’m not speaking for other Blacks), to help you defeat your elected dictator, we have been fighting against that for generations, we’ve been ringing that alarm bell for decades, you told us to stop exaggerating and fearmongering. Even today you’re telling us that we are being petty and childish when we refuse your advances and your renewed promises of unity… just as you tell us in the same breath that “you’re the ones who are gonna suffer more” as if we haven’t been the ones suffering more for centuries.

So let me spell something out for you, as long as you keep saying “not all white people” and other phrases that you’ve invented just to talk with Black folks, we gonna be keeping our distances (and to be crystal clear, this doesn’t mean we are not fighting or defending our own, just we’re not doing it alongside you), because it just proves that you haven’t learned a goddamn thing and if it weren’t for your comforts being threatened you’d still be telling us to sit in the back of the bus and to stop “playing” the race card.
