I suffer from severe arthritis which means I am never pain free. When I wake up in the morning the question is not is it going to hurt but how much is it going to hurt. I have a prescription for pain pills but they are addicting and I don't like the mental confusion.
What I find helps for me is trying to distract my mind with other things. We all know how much I love to cook. I have an area on Facebook for Food Holidays That May Get Overlooked that I post recipes on daily. I am trying to get my cookbook edited and to a publisher.
I also write daily. I have a Steampunk novel I am half way through and a friend who will have a professional editor look at it. I am having a ball and have some fun characters. My new character is a gossip columnist that I can skewer the bad guys with. Since it is Steampunk I can add magic to the pot.
I have been an admin here on Street Prophets since May 2005. I write frequently.
I do artwork and I am so excited I just got a new sale off of Fine Arts America. I do both expressionist paintings and graphic art.
I love photography. I have a beautiful digital camera my late brother got me.
I read. I especially love mysteries. I have a perfect record of not being able to figure out the villains in Agatha Christie.
I am now the elder in the family and am available to talk to and get advice from.
Most of all I am Pixie's Mommy. She is 20 years old and I take good care of her.
One thing I discovered is that my favorite spice ginger has properties that help with joint pain. It also doesn't upset the stomach. I always keep a jar of candied ginger handy.
The secret is to not give in. Even if you are in pain you can still do the things you love.
Old Wooden Pier
Saturn and Enceladus
A great book.
