Some Democratic strategists (as well as some on the left) feel that it’s not enough for the party to be moderate on issues such as trans rights and DEI - they really need move to the right like they’re have with immigration. I think that would be a mistake morally and politically. You cannot win over the right no matter what you do. The party will just end up greatly alienating the base. A good chunk of Dem voters don’t fall in line very easily. They will not hesitate to stay home.
In my opinion, we need to focus on independents and firing up the base. Smarter messaging on divisive issues, more outreach (but of the Buttigieg kind). Crafty, charismatic politicians as well as a far better online media ecosystem.
