Hakeem Jefferies - The Man of Steel Stands Up To Trump on Greenland [1]

Hakeem Jeffries, Democrat House Minority Leader, has proven once and for all that Democrat leaders have what it takes. They have what it takes to ensure that the principles that the United States used to stand for get ground under the wheels of Donald Trump’s Democracy Dumpster Truck that he calls an administration.
Jeffries consulted his Magic Eightball this week to determine the party position on invading NATO ally, Greenland. Asked if Congress would support this invasion or not, he responded with a resounding “Not Likely”. He said that he “does not believe there is bipartisan support for an invasion”. He is supposed to be a Democrat leader, not a political commentator or odds maker.
I would have expected a resounding, “No way Democrats will support invading a treaty ally.” He had a prime opportunity to differentiate Democrat philosophy from that of the current crop of Republicans, and blew it.
Since when does a Democrat leader have to straddle the fence on not changing international boundaries by force? Since they became absolutely spineless and terrified by Donald Trump, that’s when. Is Jeffries afraid he is going to get sent to El Salvador?
With leaders as feckless as Jeffries, Dems, and the nation as a whole, have not got a chance. Remember we are not a totalitarian dictatorship just yet. We are not like Russia going about attacking our neighbors to glorify and expand our empire. We helped found the United Nations to preserve a world order committed to never changing international boundaries by force.
We used to honor commitments to our allies. We used to revere democracy, civil liberties, equality before the law, and other liberal democratic values cherished by our former European allies and the United Kingdom. Jeffries’ memory is very, very short. He should perhaps read some history and then take opportunities to speak up.
This issue is a no-brainer Hakeem. Go get a spine. Stand up to Trump.
