Hi beer fans, happy Friday to all! Come in and have a cold one with us!

Beer news: in a somewhat unusual deal, two well-known Bay Area breweries are merging. Fort Point Beer Company, unable to expand in its San Francisco location, is combining with HenHouse Brewing and moving production to the HenHouse site in Santa Rosa.

One of San Francisco’s most well-known independent breweries is heading north. As part of a merger with Sonoma County’s HenHouse Brewing Company, Fort Point Beer Company is moving its production out of the city after 11 years in the Presidio. On Tuesday, the breweries announced they are joining forces and now operating as Fort Point HenHouse, combining their teams, resources and brewing operations in a shared Santa Rosa facility. They will continue to function as independent brands but under a single roof, with all five co-founders staying on board to run the business.

I started with the “Love” Hazy IPA pictured above, from Almanac Brewing, Alameda CA. Light for an IPA at 6.1% abv and tasty with Citra, Mosaic, and Sabro hops. Good stuff! I’ve also got some SN beers and a Pliny the Elder.

What are you drinking? Anyone brewing?
