Virginia Democratic candidates are awesome.
Virginia Democrats are running in more districts this cycle. In fact, Democrates are running n nearly all 100 districts this time!
Let me do my happy dance.
This is REALLY exciting news. Because it allows Democrats to represent local voters and their issues which the Republicans never cover, and increases the real voter turnout and increases our chances of wining.
Why? Because Democrats in those districts have a candidate to represent their views and to represent the Democratic argument for good government against their Republican opponents.
Democrats running in district races generally run great grassroots campaigns.
That is some really good news for all of us who live in Va in the Time of Trump.
We need a blue Virginia to hold as a firewall against DC and more importantly — right in Trump/Vance’s front yard.
As the tweet below shows, more Democrats are engaged this cycle.
This is true grassroots representational politics.
And Democrats have a very real possibility of expanding the D strength in the Virginia House of Delegates, thereby giving us a blue firewall against Republican maneuverings in this state.
x Va. (D)s have a 51/49 seat majority in the HoD. The @VAHouseDems could increase their majority significantly this year, if they run in every HD. Dems need 4 more candidates in the rural HDs below⬇️. Dems are now competing in 96/100 HDs. @HelmerVA @SpeakerDonScott @SpanbergerForVA pic.twitter.com/FDPyX1l7Zq — 90 For 90 (@90For90) April 13, 2025
To have this blue wall, we need your help.
With that in mind, here is a candidate that could use some help with money. She is a true grassroots candidate.
This is what Down With Tyranny said about her:
Two years ago we watched Jessica Anderson prove that with hard work, the Republican-held 71st district was competitive. She missed flipping it by just 667 votes. Since then, the purple district has gotten bluer— Kamala won it by more than 2,400 votes and now the commonwealth’s establishment politicos who didn’t prioritize Jessica’s race in 2023, are 100% behind her. Considered one of the most competitive races in the state, the Democratic Party added more than 900 new voters in New Kent county, the reddest part of the district, and the coalitions throughout the district have grown in numbers. Today, Blue America endorsed Jessica’s election for this November (2025).
900 new voters in New Kent County.
She could very well win this. Kamala Harris won it.
So can Jess Anderson.
In her last run, she came in to DK and wrote all her own diaries and laid her platform and her reasons for running and what she hoped to do for her district and her constituents. I’m writing about fellow Kossack and fellow Virginian, whom you can find here -—> Jess Anderson.
Jessica is running for District 71 —
Here’s her issues page.
x Jessica Anderson District 71: The race will be a rematch between the current Republican incumbent and Jessica, who lost in 2023 by only 1.9 percent after being. Please help the 5 candidates on our debut 2025 Virginia House of Delegates slate:

In an kosmail, I asked her why she was running again. Here’s what she said —
At lot of paths in my life led me to run for Delegate, in late 2014, during my divorce, I struggled to provide health insurance for my daughters and meet everyday financial needs while trying to re-enter the workforce. I leaned into social safety net programs like EBT and FAMIS (Medicaid) over the next wo years, until a slight pay raise put me at a deficit. I was able to see firsthand how crucial and life-saving social safety nets are for families. years later I met and married my now husband and had the chance to work part time at a local elementary school and see behind the curtain of public education and see how underfunded and under supported our teachers and staff. It was also a chance to see the inequities in our student population. Once COVID came into the picture I started making political content on Tiktok and had an opportunity to educate myself on issues and the function of government and policy in a broader way. As I began to become more active locally with our school board, letter writing, lobbying, etc. I knew I could do more and after a chat with my local Dems, I knew state Delegate was where I was being led to serve. All of these experiences inspired me to serve the community I've called home for nearly 25 years.
As I said, she lost the last one by 1 percent. That area has become more blue recently. She can do this if she has support. Please give what ever you can to her ActBlue.
