De minimus is a postal tariff term. It means the maximum value you can import without your shipment being liable for import taxes.

So, imagine, for instance, I would like some new underpants or “ropa interior” (interior clothes) as they call them here, weirdly. I could go to the mall, where the physical store pays monthly rent and business taxes and so on. Or I could login to my account on Ali Express. (Amazon is so 1990’s these days...)
I login to Ali Express and buy three pairs of sexy Miao Miao underpants at about $5.00 each and they arrive ten days later by courier to my door and I’ve paid NO tax and NO carriage fees.
Obviously this business model is antipathetic to the likes of Walmart, Sears, Bed Bath and Beyond… oh wait — they went bankrupt, didn’t they?
Now, the Orange Turd has ABOLISHED ‘de minimus’ completely! Putting millions of small businesses, many run by women, OUT of business with one stroke of the pen!
There is a LOT more I could say. But I have ranted enough for one night. A little appreciation would be liked very much. Now I am gonna open another Moosehead, gotta support our friends in Canada.
