Bug Brain Simple: We’re stacking the odds against ourselves [1]

“America First” is a rallying cry for the MAGA crowd. But for Trump, “America First” is being implemented as “America Alone.” The United States has a population of about 350 million people. About 8 billion people live in the world. There are 22 non-Americans for every one of us. Since we make up only a small fraction of the world’s population, all former presidents have cultivated friends and allies and worked to minimize frictions with as many nations as possible. Trump has chosen to blowup all that effort. And the simple fact is that this will leave the ratio at 22 to 1. At those odds, a bet on America’s future looks like a loser.
