What the US has lost in less than 100 days
While we’re losing our rights as citizens, we must not forget that the country is also losing it’s status in the world and the trust of every single country. For make no mistake even our enemies know we are no longer dependable even as they seek to profit from the situation.
Right now countries are researching on how to survive and grow without the US, even if some have made tentative deals, even if some are still trading with us. As long as this regime is in place, they will be looking elsewhere for more permanent relationships. The worse part is, even if the regime leaves, it will still take them time to extend their trust again for we have wronged our friends and allies in the most grievous of ways.
Our current occupant of the white house and his cabinet, have set out to deliberately insult other world leaders, inviting them to kiss his ass or to be annexed as if they were not worthy of respect. And yet that same regime has had the gall to demand respect form the very same world leaders they insulted.
One of the first tasks we will face, whenever this nightmare ends, is to reforge links across the globe, restore faith and trust, and it won’t be easy. We will need new unbreakable treaties, for the world will no longer take our words for anything, our promises will mean nothing to them for the foreseeable future.
Because, even though they know this mess is the trump’s regime, they also know that 77 million Americans voted for him. So what’s to reassure them in 8, 12, 20 years we will not stab them in the back again? There needs to be some sort of heavy penalty if a country reneges on a treaty, accord, contract or whatever.
It’s the worst of precedents to have had Ukraine give up it’s nuclear arsenal on the promise of support should they be attacked, only to step back and wash our hands of our responsibilities now and worse ask them to give up their main source of hope for rebuilding, their rare minerals.
