Masked man steals Noem's handbag with $3,000, passport, DHS badge, DL, keys, makeup & checks [1]

On Sunday, Kristi Noem, the cosplaying Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, aate out at an unnamed DC restaurant (Update: It was the Capital Grille). While she was eating, her handbag went walkabout. When the Secret Service, which allegedly provides security for Noem, reviewed security camera footage at the restaurant, they saw an unknown white male wearing a medical mask steal her bag and leave the restaurant.
Noem later revealed the contents of the purloined purse. To wit, her driver's license, medication, apartment keys, passport, DHS access badge, makeup bag, blank checks, and about $3,000 in cash.
Let's just say there are questions. In no particular order:
WTF was her security detail doing?
As a cabinet secretary she receives Secret Service protection. In addition, DHS has its own security branch to protect the Secretary from those falsely accused of being MS-13 members and gay stylists suspected of moonlighting as gang bangers.
I am no expert in VIP security details, but I imagine a masked man approaching your subject is high on the list of potential threats outlined in the manual. No doubt, the administration will blame DEI hires, especially as admitting error is anathema to a gang of incompetents for whom error is oxygen. But cry as they might, they own this stupidity.
Who carries $3,000 in cash?
In the age of Venmo, etc., the only reason you need wads of cash is to buy 'ice' and other street drugs. Or because you are a paranoid who thinks international (aka Jewish) bankers are lusting after your life savings. Which one fits Noem? (Update: She said she had the cash to pay for her family’s Easter lunch. A: The Capital Grille is not cheap , but it does not have celebrity chef, nosebleed prices. And she was there for lunch. B. What no credit/bank cards? Still fishy.)
Checks?
(See above). I grew up in the pre-internet age. I once wrote many checks. However, the last time I wrote one (or even had a checkbook) was so long ago that I cannot remember the event.
Passport? This one makes more sense. Even high government officials need a passport to enter another country. And Noem needs to travel to El Salvador on business.
Why no gun?
Noem brags about shooting dogs being dogs and goats being goats. She loves to pose with big guns pointed at other people. And posts pictures of her interdicting drugs, flying military transport planes, and going on exercises with the Coast Guard. Yet, she had no gun in her bag?
Isn't toting lethal hardware proof that you are a ‘great American?' It seems to me that 'real Americans' might suspect she's a poseur.
The gang who can't shoot straight
Of all the lies Trump has told, the most laughable is his claim he only hires the best people.
In fairness, he made that claim before his first term. Now, beyond the boilerplate encomiums offered to support his patently unqualified cabinet nominations, he has not recently claimed general excellence in his dismal picks (as far as I am aware). It seems that he has enough feral intelligence to understand that no one — except maybe the most deluded MAGA — will buy that bullshit.
A Cabinet Secretary being robbed, while surrounded by security in a DC restaurant, is not the most consequential news of the day. However, as a symptom and symbol of the incompetence of this administration, it is worth mentioning.
Sadly, blowing up the US government requires nothing more than metaphorical suicide bombers working inside the temple. And Noem is the sort of value-free zealot eager to do her master's bidding.
